Autonomic Neuropathy is a deadly complication of diabetes and little is known about it.
Detected early, it is capable of being reversed which could dramatically reduce fatality due to cardiovascular disease.
A sign of its importance is that the ADA since 2006 has recommended that Heart Rate Variability testing be done as soon as Diabetes is detected and repeated at least yearly if negative.
This could not be implemented easily due to lack of affordable and reliable testing methodologies.
